I get loads of emails and questions about Disney Vacations — where to stay, what to do, on-site or off-site? Where to buy tickets? So, I figured I’d start a blog series about all things Disney!! This week, let’s talk about Disney Resorts!! We’re ‘on site’ snobs! No, it doesn’t have to be expensive, we save 20-40% EVERY time we go to Disney because I know where to get discounts (The Special Offers tab of their website — but you have to catch it when the offer comes out!)!! We’ve started booking our Disney vacation for the year, and I think it would be fun to start a series of sharing things about Disney! Every week, I’ll be sharing something about Disney vacations, or movies! I just booked our trip this past week — well, I’m such a nerd, I actually booked something a while ago, but I keep having to modify it because of my work schedule. But, now we have our solid vacation chosen. A fun aspect of booking a Disney vacation is actually ‘booking’ it! You call the main number and hear the pixie dust noise, listen to hold music from classic Disney films (a favorite thing of mine when calling!), and you get to come up with any vacation you want, each time you call, is unlike any other place! We originally booked a ‘split stay’ in Animal Kingdom Lodge for half the week, then the rest of the week at Polynesian Village Resort. AKL has ‘savannah’ views, where you can view the animals from your room balcony! This is the only resort of it’s type in the US! If you’ve never been to Disney, and you may only go once, I’d have to recommend you stay at AKL to get an immersive themed experience unlike any other! Our ultimate favorite, Polynesian, was where we stayed the week of our wedding, and we love it because the pacific island theming, the views of the water and the fireworks at Cinderella’s Castle — which we like to enjoy from our balcony, and the proximity to the parks!

They also have a fun luau dinner show where this happens!! How cool is that?!
ahhh, I can’t wait!!
This is Animal Kingdom Lodge — an african savannah themed resort!
This is not a joke, you guys! This is ACTUALLY what you would see daily at this resort! They actually place food out in areas that they want to encourage the animals to be! When Robby and I stayed there for our wedding planning, we actually saw this every morning and evening, and the sunrise and sunset made it even more magical!!
The lobby is so grand, and my favorite part is the SMELL! They have a wood burning fire place at their restaurant called Jiko, which is amazing and if you’re a wine lover in Disney, you MUST go there for dinner!
If you book a ‘Savannah’ view, this would be what you’d see!! Of course, there’s loads of animals roaming around, so I’m surprised there aren’t any in this pic! :)
The POOL!! How fabulous is this?!
This ACTUALLY happens! Often when you’re in the lobby, you can hear drummers playing! It’s just one of those things that Disney does to add to the ‘immerse’ and realistic experience!
