For two years I’ve been styling Katelyn James‘ Workshop styled shoots! She hosts a photography workshop, where we have a styled shoot setup for her to use as a ‘hands on’ type of portion to her photography teaching. It’s always so much fun to be there because we setup the shoot, then I sit back with the other vendors and watch them all learn posing and shooting techniques! This particular shoot, my little sister and her boyfriend were modeling. I knew he was going to propose to her and so did she – but she didn’t know when! Because she tends to know surprises before they happen, it was the perfect plan! She was in a wedding gown, busy posing, so why would she suspect it THEN?!
I wanted to do a canopy of flowers that surrounded them when he proposed – so I designed a plan for the florals to go inside the pergola, not just on the front face. Because of the unique 360′ nature of this design, I sketched out the layout so I know what type of mechanics/setup I needed! I had wooden rods across the top with caged bricks attached, then simply inserted the florals to hang vertically, instead of facing forwards. I also chose flowers that hang well, that have length to them. Roses would have been pointless here because you wouldn’t see their face!
Alex and I (Left), Bane and I (Right)Of course Bane came with me to flirt with all the ladies!! (Dustin, Samantha, Me and Bane!) … yes, she takes after my mom!
…okay, I had no idea she was sneaking me into the photo… so serious here!! Ka
Katelyn’s neighbors think we are insane! They must wonder why a wedding takes place every few months there!! :D
Thanks to all the amazing vendors!
