For the longest time, I was trying to figure out a way to show my brides how excited I was to work with them. I wanted to send them a sweet little token of appreciation for choosing me as their florist. When I got married in Disney World they sent out two gifts, one was when you booked and one was the day of the wedding. It was fun to have those tangible gifts when booking. I don’t know if it also has something to do with the fact that you pay out so much in deposits in the beginning, but don’t have anything to show for it, or if it’s simply the act of being spoiled and given something that was totally unexpected as part of your booking that vendor. Either way, it was nice to be given the gift and a fun little thing to celebrate! On the day of my wedding, they gave me a watch, and I STILL wear it five years later. I love it so much, it’s the watch I wear to the weddings I design!
The key to me being successful with sending out these gifts is by creating a cabinet (childproof of course) where I keep a stock of all the items that are ready to send. I also have a UPS account where the box dimensions and weight are already pre-entered so all I have to do is login, enter the address, choose my box size and use my commercial account to checkout and print the label. It just takes a few moments and I can drop it off in the UPS drop box, which is so simple and easy with a toddler because I can just drive up to the box and pop it right in. For east of the Mississippi in the northeast to ship it’s $10.00, and if it’s in VA, ground delivers the next day and for states like NY or SC takes two days. USPS offers the drop boxes but I believe the rule for leaving it in your mailbox or the blue box are a tad different than UPS, but you’ll see in my comments below why I use UPS. This whole assembly line thing makes gifting easier for someone like me! By having all my supplies ready, I can put them together faster! I have included the links to the exact items I use below so you can see what size box works for these items.
I include a few little gifts, like a cute print I think they might like based on our initial phone chat (usually it includes a Disney quote) and maybe something cute like a nail polish or some candies that match my brand and color (Black, Gold, White). I also include a black MAC Cosmetics gift card because MAC is my favorite and who doesn’t love makeup? They also offer free shipping online, so I figure anyone can order it from their computer, so they don’t have to go out to use it! I’m thinking of adding in a mini bottle of whiskey for the guys, but for now the box is intended for the bride. As a side note about the sparkling wine/champagne that I include is: It’s illegal to mail wine via USPS, and UPS simply has a ‘company policy’ of no wine. The UPS guys always tell me to just list it as perfume for the liquid. They have the company policy for distributors and sellers, so if you’re just sending one to a friend, they don’t make a fuss about it. but you didn’t hear that from me. I like to live on the edge a little, makes me feel young. I’m probably going to jail for telling you that, and I expect someone from UPS to email me soon. Just don’t do it through USPS or you’ll get fined
and burned at the stake.
